A highlight of the trip was chancing upon cute critters along the streets of China. Whether they end up on the plates of Guangzhou citizens are another matter.
Spotted this kitty at 乌镇 (WuZhen), the Water City of China. From far, it looked like those 招财猫 (Fortune Cat) that we decorate our houses with during Chinese New Year.
A close up shot on the kitty. Somehow it looks eerie under scrutiny. Those eyes, are they closed shut because the kitty was resting, or was it just empty sockets devoid of eyeballs?
A Pekingese spotted in Shanghai's 豫园 (YuYuan), which seems to be the most popular dog breed in China. Maybe their meat taste tender...
An unidentified dog breed standing guard at the balcony of the houses that line the river in 乌镇 (WuZhen).
The cute doggie sprang into action and barked at a passing tourist raft.
