Repeal it

Section 377A of the penal code states that should a man be found to have committed an act of "gross indecency" with another man, he is liable to be put behind bars for up to 2 years. Now there's a movement to get the act repealed. Read more about the movement here, and sign the petition here.

I'm not exactly pro-homosexuality but recent exposure towards their way of lives have made me sympathetic towards their plights. While many have ridiculed Lee Ang's Brokeback Mountain to be overly graphic and even nauseating, I have found it to be a really heart-wrenching film. To me, a relationship is not about the gender but the love that exists between two persons. And what can be more heart breaking when two obviously deeply in love person can't be together with each other.

The proliferation of local blogs, besides spicing up the local internet scene, has also brought about a diversity of opinions, and also letting the others into the cultures and lifestyles of the minorities. A local blog, yawningbread.org, besides offering a balanced critique on the local political and social scene, also chronicles the struggles the local gay community faces from the uptight local authority. It's sad to know that while we recite the same pledge, yet they are subjected to different set of regulations.

As a netizen rightly points out, it's not about gay, it's about love.
