First off, a big thanks to those who offered their concerns and advices on how to patch up that pesky hole on my tongue. Thankfully the ulcer receded. Which also means that my fledging career as a model HPB's anti-smoking campaign(click at your own peril) disappears into thin air. Once again, ZTP Liang Teh was the catalyst behind the recovery. ZTP Liang Teh rules!
Speaking of herbal tea, it seems the image of herbal tea has undergone a major overhaul. Once confined to traditional Chinese medicine hall, it now comes in ring-tab bottle and even have celebrities, like Singapore most famous foreman Ah Du, endorsing it. (Note to self: Resolution for 2008, appear in a herbal tea advertisement.) Anyone knows what's the side effects of a Vitamin C overdose? Given that my memory seems to be inversely correlated with age, I often forget whether have I consume the daily dosage of Vitamin C supplement and ended up eating more than I should. Maybe having too much Vitamin C has an adverse effect on one's memory. If I can lose a kilogram for every weight loss quip I hear, I'll probably be weighing as much as Kate Moss does. Okay, probably two Kate Mosses. OMG! Dunkin Donuts is doing delivery in Singapore! No more spending 3 hours queuing for Donuts! This website is godsend! OMG! I would like to apologize to full stop, comma and my grammar teacher for the sentence above. I need some new pants and shirts after my colleague commented I looked like Krusty the Clown, with all that oversized working attire I'm currently donning. So yay to the GSS! Did I mention that The Simpsons Movie is coming to a screen near you on 26th July? I mentioned about Soda Green's concert on the 11th of August a while back. As you grow older, you tend to learn more about how your body functions. Some people will find the optimal amount of sleep they need daily, likewise the hours of sleep that can be forgo before their bodies yield. For me, I found out that besides succumbing to the monthly common cold, ulcers populate on my tongue on an annual basis.(click at your own peril) Same time, same spot. The only difference, it's bigger this time round! Yay!
At its peak, the nasty indent was about the size of the tip of a pinkie finger and even I myself squirms at the sight of this nasty looking hole. Which also meant it was a pretty good tool to scare my female colleagues too..Heh heh. Another fascinating self-discovery is that with a hole on my tongue, I tend to secrete enough saliva to put one of those Pavlov's dogs to shame. Due to the ulcer, swallowing of the excess saliva was a painful and laborious affair, which meant some the excess gooey stuff inevitably ended up on my work documents. Hope my colleagues aren't reading this. And through this hole in the tongue ordeal, I actually rediscovered how it is like to shed tears. Nope, I wasn't trying to divert my mind off the pain by watching those Korean weepie dramas. The tearing was in response to the nightly ritual of vigorous rubbing of salt onto the naked wound, which obviously isn't an enjoyable process. Besides the tears and the mucus, there was also the oozing of blood (much like how a volcano erupts) which left my mouth bloodied. Oh yeah, did I mention my already barely audible speech degenerated to the extent even die hard fans of Sylvester Stallone would find it incomprehensible? Luckily I didn't have to field that many phone calls during this period or the callers might actually start believing that they have found the direct line to Mars. The biggest takeaway from this episode was actually finding the answer to the question of "what is the most heart-wrenching feeling in this world?" Taiwanese author 张小娴 once wrote: "世上最遥远的距离，不是生与死的距离，不是天各一方，而是我就站在你面前，你却不知道我爱你。"* For those who subscribe to this theory obviously didn't go through what I had suffered. The single most heart-wrenching feeling in life occurs at the moment when you are about to unleash a torrent of expletives, and the bloody ulcer on your tongue makes it impossible to even pronounce the F in the Fuck. FUCK. *This phrase a classic line from one of 张小娴's love novels. It roughly translates to "The greatest distance is neither between life and death nor between the sky and the earth. It is standing right in front of you, and yet you do not realize my feelings for you." Aww..... Here's a link to more 张小娴's eye moistening quotes. I love my music live. I love it more, when the artist surprises the audience with a fantastic cover of another song. Here are five brilliant covers I managed to unearth scouring the youtube. Chris Cornell, ex-Soundgarden's and current Audioslave's frontman, covering MJ's classic Billie Jean. This guy has steel for lungs. The Oasis's anthem, Wonderwall, given a melancholy twist by Ryan Adam. One of last year's most popular song, Gnarl Barkley's upbeat Crazy, gets the Ray Lamotagne treatment. The IT band of Taiwanese music, 苏打绿 (Soda Green), performing a live version of the late 张雨生's 我的未来不是梦. Sniggers. Travis doing a better job than Britney ever could, with a fantastic cover of Hit Me Baby One More Time.

Talking about suay....
Weaving through the void decks while on the way to the MRT station, I got hit by, get this, a falling piece of laundry. And the fallen laundry wasn't some ordinary T-shirt, it was a jumbo size quill blanket. Luckily it only slightly brushed against my shoulder. Any closer to my head, you will be seeing me at CGH with that patented goofy grinning idiotic look of mine. At least it wasn't a piece of lingerie. A much needed clean up of my phone memory card means that you visual creatures are in for a treat.
 Zam Zam! Wolfed down this huge serving of murtabak at the over a month ago. Yum~  Farewell CSS buses. Soon, these familiar orange buses will cease operation. Although I have forgotten when was the last time I boarded one of these brightly colored buses, the fond moments of collecting those brightly colored bus tickets still remained deeply etched in my memories.  Gigantic crowd to match the gigantic floor space of the recently opened Giant at Tampines.  Must be one of the most tasty bowl of yam paste I have tasted. Shame about the cake of oil at the surface though.  Free food plus the chance to leave work at 5:45pm meant that it was a no-brainer to attend this event.  Jaws, the classic villain from 007, would absolutely love this dish.  A tasty bowl of ramen. All 15 bucks of it.  The rather authenticated Japanese eatery, complete with a TV showing NHK news. The food must be pretty good too, given that half of the patrons that night were Japanese businessmen. After footing the bill, we were pretty livid that a 1% cess charge, which was to be paid to STB, was levied on our total bill. Getting ripped off like bloody clueless tourists in your own backyard, that's a Uniquely Singapore experience!  Unable to secure seats at the incredibly packed Timbre, we ended up tucking into a tub of gelato at Venezia Gelateria, located at the Singapore Arts Museum. Pretty decent ice cream, with additional points awarded for its affordability.  The adorable boy, whom I sacrificed 8 Saturday mornings for. (Actually its only 7 Saturdays, I spent the other one with my bum glued to the toilet seat)  As you can see, I'm not really adept at this whole cam-whoring business. Let's try again...  Cheese!
